Director Baz Luhrmann has approached the rapper to write the score for his latest movie.
The legendary artist will write the music for Luhrmann’s adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s novel alongside other musicians including Prince and Lady Gaga. Jeymes Samuel of The Bullitts confirmed the news on twitter, writing “Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words”.
The upcoming movie, filmed in Sydney, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher. Trailers so far have featured covers of ‘Happy together’ by the Turtles and U2’s ‘Love is Blindness’, respectively performed by Filter and Jack White. This latest version of the classic premieres across the globe in May, and is pretty much guaranteed to be a massive hit. Want parties, glamour and ridiculous scenes of excess?
