On the trail of Open Mics in London
For a long time open mics have been a gate for underground artists. All of them looking for a light to shine upon them.
Open Mic platforms might appear messy, but are great places to spread talent and allow the most avid music fan to share precious moments with gifted individuals.
London being such a bustling city, you should not be surprised to find a myriad of open mic platforms all over town. Skilled but inexperienced individuals fighting to perform, fighting to be seen, or just to be heard, with styles from Reggae to Electro-Acoustic, or from Rap/Hip-Hop to Funk & Soul.
As it is well known, East London is all fun and lively parties! Here you find a variety of styles and genres. However, you should not neglect the West, a different area, full of different vibes. For instance, at The Distillers in Hammersmith, a scene’s available for the bravest every Wednesday from 7:30 pm.
Or in Chiswick, at The George IV on Wednesdays as well from 7:30 pm.
Both sites allow a variety of genres to be performed, Rap/Hip-Hop/Beatbox, Poetry, Acoustic, Folk or Reggae.
In places like The Reliance in Shoreditch or Moka East Cafe in Stratford, located East, the genres reach a broad horizon with comedy, Electronica and even Storytelling.
For the most adventurous, or even just the curious, there will always be something for you in Great London.
The city has so much to offer, all you have to do is open your eyes and they’ll be filled with blinding colours and rhythmic sounds.
