"What is House?" We take you back in time...

When I am looking for new music, I cannot hit on what I really like to listen to. For a few months, instead of downloading fresh tracks, I am stuffing my hard disk with good old bits. And you know what? I re-discover music.
Nowadays, it's not the same what it was in '80,'90 or '00. House music had a dance beat, inserts and melodies which are based on the sound of classical music instruments such as the violin, piano and the guitar, and sometimes it was characterized by a bassline protruding into the foreground. These days, there is a lack of that. Sometimes I hear good melodic house, but it is mostly in the underground scene. It wasn't on the top lists since Armand Van Helden released the single 'You don't know me'.
I was also talking with few young people who say that they listen to house music and they don't even know what it is. They say music from Avicii or Calvin Harris - but that's not house. It's terrible when people limit themselves to this extent! You should look into what you like, not what you hear on the radio - that's just lazy. If you are interested in something, start to learn it from the beginning not the end. The music is like a never-ending book but the the beginning is always the same, and you should know it to understand the rest.
