Everyone in hiphop talks about 'dem haters' cuz having haters hating on you in hiphop seems to be an unavoidable fact of hiphop life.
Like rock n roll in the 50s and jazz in the 20s, and even the beatles in the 60s, hip hop has had many haters since breaking into da mainstream during tha 70s n 80s. With da beatles it was their hair, with jazz it was the way they danced n how quik they played, and rock n roll was just too damn loud. With hip hop however, it's just about everything, from the way we talk 2 how we dress, the music, the cursing, the 'how about i just dont give a f*ck' attitude.
Hip hop is a countercultural movement which challenges all regular norms generally accepted in society, n if ur a stiff maafu*ka, u gona feel ur boundaries get grated on. Its gona especially irritate u becuz hiphop expresses itself so artistically well in an unlimited number of ways, always just a lil bit smarter n quicker than the average joe can pickup on, so if you dont get hip hop culture u always gona feel spat on by the rappers, spun out by the djs, swaggered by the breakdancers, interrogated by the grafitti writers and generally confused n upset by 'what da hell is this subculture doing getting in ma face?' anxiety attacks. But all we do is just be us. If you understand hiphop then you will know that for us its just a way of life, like islam is for muslims.
We cherish the beats becuz hiphop gives us the freedom to tell it how we need to, hiphop says it's ok to feel that way cuz its tru n honest, it's even ok to have haters cuz the whole movement is about rising above the struggles in life. So next time u be hating on someone who wears their cap backwards, who beatboxes whilst waiting for da train, who backflips when da beats come on, just remember it ain't about U, its about us loving hiphop.
