5 Indie Tracks You May Have Missed This Week
1) TV On The Radio - Mercy
American indie rockers TV On The Radio are back with a brand spanking new single 'Mercy', a wild, rough diamond of a track full of enthusiasm and life. The songs frenetic guitars and drums have an electric spark about them, packing an irresistibly loony punch. TV On The Radio are back with a bang.
2) Kings Of Leon - Wait For Me
I was a little sceptical about Kings Of Leon's big return single 'Supersoaker' released last month, but their second offering from their upcoming album Mechanical Bull, 'Wait For Me' is a much more measured and soulful proposition. The songs great Americana guitar riff, brooding lyrics and ailing chorus are absolutely top notch. Mechanical Bull has not got my full attention.
3) Lovelife - Midnight Swimming
Brooklyn via. London synth-pop project Lovelife have released another infectious pop gem in the form of 'Midnight Swimming', the first single off their as of yet untitled third EP. Dark and mysterious, this track is how all pop should sound in my eyes.
4) LA VEGA - It's Nice To Think That It Might Be True
I have to admit, I had never heard of LA VEGA before this week, however their summery indie ballad 'It's Nice To Think That It Might Be True' has certainly stolen my attention. Sounding like a woozy throwback to the early naughties, this single's kind melodies and catchy chorus will sound absolutely perfect anywhere, as long as the sun is around too.
5) Nothankyou - Oyster
Nothankyou is an impressive collaboration between Dirty Projectors' vocalist and keyboardist Olga Bell and critically acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Tom Vek. The duo's unique set of vocals and fascinatingly complex instrumental arrangements make this an intriguing listen from start to finish.
