London’s Boundary Breaking Festival Field Day See’s Thousands Gather for Leftfield Showcase Featuring Justice, Charlotte de Witte and More

Indie | Wednesday 28th August 2024 | Ramon

Curated to highlight dynamic, innovative and left-leaning sounds, Field Day brought together acts from the past, present and future for a day into night session like no other. Easing people into the day on the East Stage George Riley brought an uplifting performance to crowds premiering some of her best existing and new music. I.Jordan performed an electrifying live set which saw them playing the guitar with a live band. Shygirl dazzled guests with her explosive hyperpop and queer dance troupe on stage. Mura Masa also performed a unique jaw-dropping set of club classics as well as teasers from the latest album ‘Curve Club’. Meanwhile, in the Cupra North Arena, horsegiirL brought her thumping donk and techno to the tent which saw masses gather before leading into Sega Bodega’s feisty deconstructed club sonics.

Over on the West Stage Bambii displayed energy, jungle, bass and more throughout her speedy set before leading into Tiga & Hudson Mohawke, presenting their dynamic electronic show Love Minus Zero. Yves Tumor stunned guests with a showstopping extravaganza of experiential music accompanied with their deep vocals. Returning once again, BBC Radio 6 presents ‘ALL QUEENS’ hosted by Mary Anne Hobbs had punters dancing from start to finish with compelling DJ sets throughout the day. Highlights from the day included Yazzus b2b LCY who accelerated sonics from acid to footwork, before BBC Radio 6 mainstay AFRODEUTSCHE took things up a notch with the finest old school rave, techno and jungle. Furthermore Jlin locked off the stage with an intelligent expedition into leftfield electronic breaks.

Closing the day off Field Day had a collection of headline closing acts to finish the celebration of all things leftfield. On the West Stage, techno queen Charlotte De Witte, accelerated crowds with her new show Overdrive which featured cutting-edge visuals accompanied by her full-throttle techno. In the CUPRA North Arena, Berlin duo Brutalismus 3000 kept the pace going with hard-hitting industrial sounds of techno and gabba. The East Stage drew to a close with none other than French Electronic duo Justice who ignited the stage with their enchanting new light show. A truly magical closing moment which had fans dancing in awe as the band played favourite songs such as ‘Genesis’ as well as hit single ‘We Are Your Friends’
