Rarely has there been a more respected, celebrated and iconic hip hop duo than Psycho Les and Juju, aka The World Famous Beatnuts.
Hailing from Queens, New York, The Beatnuts early credits include producing for Monie Love and legendary British artists The Stereo MCs. Known for their longstanding friendship with The Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul, The Nuts have routinely been acknowledged as the sole Latino affiliates of The Native Tongues collective.
Anyone who has frequented hip hop parties and shows over the last two decades will no doubt have heard Beatnuts hit tracks such as ‘No Equal’, ‘No Escapin’ This’, ‘Off The Books’ as well as ‘Watch Out Now’, a track that was controversially sampled by the producers of Jennifer Lopez’s 2002 smash hit ‘Jenny From The Block’, for which The Nuts eventually and rightfully received royalties for.
The Beatnuts will be blessing Chip Shop in Brixton on the 20th September. One of London’s premier niche hip hop venues, Chip Shop has over the last year or so seen performances from heavyweights of the US scene including Cormega, Chuck D, B-Real, and KRS-One.
Support on the night comes from Mic Chill, with Parallax & Kemestry reppin’ for the UK. Big Ted and 210 will be holding it down behind the decks with regular Chip Shop host Curoc there too, this promises to be one of the rowdiest and most epic nights in the 2018 London hip hop calendar.
