Did Ashanti Open Up About Break Up With Nelly?

Ashanti’s new single ‘Never Should Have’
We can all agree that singer Ashanti has indeed been away from the game for a while. We also know that the singer is very private in terms of her personal affairs; the talented singer dropped a new single titled ‘Never Should Have’. This single sheds light on the singer’s relationship with Nelly; a relationship neither of them ever really spoke about.
The single from Ashanti sheds light on her relationship with Nelly in a way we have never heard before. Ashanti who is very secretive about the whole thing has up until this day had people questioning whether they were together or not .
Ashanti allegedly broke up with Nelly upon rumours that he was cheating. Although the singer insists her and Nelly are still good friends she almost confirmed these rumours may be true.
When asked about the song in relation to Nelly she stated “It’s very obvious that the song came from a sincere place. A lot of people are asking, ‘What is that about?’ or ‘Who is that about?’ It came from a very sincere place. A lot of people have been in a situation where they’ve been betrayed or lied to or taken advantage of.”
She also added “I mean, listen…things happen, people get hurt, people have resentment, people carry old things with them. Things just happen in real life. You go through things, I go through things, It’s a little bit of both. Some of it’s generic and some things are about me. Do I go through things? Absolutely. He has to do what he has to do right now and I have to do what I have to do right now, because sometimes you can distract each other.”
It seems that even if the song is actually about Nelly; Ashanti won’t say it. She hasn’t changed one bit; she’s still the same old secretive person. However looking at her previous comment; it looks like Nelly’s cheating rumours are indeed true.
