Reggae Month 2017

Coinciding with the birthdays of Reggae legends Bob Marley and Dennis Brown, ‘Reggae Month’ was created to celebrate Jamica's culture and musical history.

The events celebrated across the island during the month include the Reggae Academy Awards, the Reggae Film Festival and the annual Irie FM Reggae Music Awards. Reggae Month also aims to be recognised internationally for showcasing the best musicians of the genre worldwide. Enjoy the islands vibrant music this month across the UK:

10th February: Dancehall VIP at Cavendish Banqueting Colindale

With a live performance from dancehall artist Charly Black, the event will play a mix of reggae, soca, dancehall and bashment.

11th February: Reggae Yoga at The Wonder Inn in Manchester

Creating positive vibrations, the weekly yoga class in carried out to a roots reggae soundtrack.

12th February: Reggae Roast Soundsystem at Brixton Jamm

The all-day reggae sound system will be hosted by artists Brother Culture, Donovan KingJay and Natty Campbell.

12th February: Classic Lovers Rock at Clapham Grand

Artists Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson and Victor Romero Evans will be performing much loved, classic rock hits with a live band at Clapham Grand.

13th February: Jam Jah Mondays at The Dark Horse Birmingham

Sound system Jam Jah plays reggae, dancehall and roots and host a monthly night with DJ Bongo Damo.

16th February: Kris-I + Candy Silk + Almaz at Hootananny Brixton

The Roots Rock Reggae special will be headlined by Jamaican born and UK based musician Kris-I.

17th February: Dreadzone at The Plug Sheffield

Merging electronic, rock and dub music styles, reggae band Dreadzone will be at The Plug in Sheffield on 17th February.

18th February: Gladdy Wax Special at The Deptford Dub Club

The regular and free reggae club night hosted by Jamaican, UK based DJ Gladdy Wax.

18th February: Don Letts at The Crescent in York

Filmmaker and DJ Don Letts is hosting a reggae night at The Crescent in York.

24th February: Bashment and Chill at The Dogstar in South London

Monthly dancehall night in Brixton ‘Bashment and Chill’ plays Afrobeats, Hip Hop, Soca and RnB.
