A sea of lifejackets flooded Parliament Square
The demonstation aimed to raise awareness of the very real migrant crisis.
Various charities including the International Rescue Committee laid out 2,500 lifejackets on Parliament Square in September. Taken from the beaches of Greece, the sea of lifejackets represented the thousands of refugees who have lost their lives at sea whilst making the dangerous voyage across to Europe.
Sitting in the shadow of the Houses of Parliament, campaigners wanted to remind MPs of the dangers many desperate people are facing. The lifejacket graveyard was laid out for the UN's Migration Summit in New York and for prime minister, Theresa May to set out her strategy to ease issues with migration.
According to UNHCR 6,940 people have drowned or gone missing between January 2015 and August 2016, a totally unacceptable number of lives which have been needlessly lost.

In her speech, May laid out her approach and urged other countries to follow the UK's approach; which mainly consists of injecting money and throwing resources into the region to try keep the migrants there. I mean so far that approach has worked immensly well for us. She also stated that countries should be allowed to keep control of their borders and that European nations should stick to the 'first country safe' rule.
Her advice is all pretty rich when you consider the UK government has opted out of the EU's refugee quota and will house a pathetic 20,000 migrants over 5 years.
