Ibiza clubs hit hard by Guardia Civilia
Amnesia, Space and Privilege were all searched as part of a Spainishwide crackdown on tax.
Early in the morning of July 5th Amnesia was raided by the Spanish authorities. They arrived about an hour after Cocoon closed, reportedly landing in the car park in a helicopter. The Guardia Civilia searched the club all day, and arrested 4 people including Amnesia's owner Martin Ferring.
The next day they were back and were searching the club again, this time with axes. Whilst searching the club the authorties also raided a few properties linked with Amnesia including an IT firm who work with the club. After 17 hours of searching the authorties were reported to have found 2 million Euros and a cash counter hidden in the club.
Following the surprise search, on July 7th Space and Privilege were also searched by the Guardia Civilia as part of a nationwide tax crackdown, Operation Chopin. The investigation is looking into the nightlife industries finances, focusing on fraud. 87 businesses will be looked into in Spain, something that's sure to shake up their thriving night time sector.
