STILL SOARING: EAGLES OF DEATH METAL HEADING FOR NO.1
Monday 16th November 2015 | Craig
Following the utterly shocking events in Paris on Friday evening, fans of American rock band Eagles of Death Metal have launched a Facebook page aiming to push song ‘Save a Prayer’ (originally recorded by Duran Duran) to UK No.1. The campaign, which has already seen the song reach No.1 in the iTunes Rock chart, is but a small part of a much larger global response to last weeks devastating events.
Unfortunately, the campaign has lead to a small social media backlash claiming the motives of the campaign are in bad taste and in no way helpful to the families and friends involved.
Of course, and hopefully this goes without saying, a campaign like this isn’t going to combat terrorism and also isn’t going to put an end to ISIS but this is not the point. What really matters is how you bounce back from what, quite frankly, isn’t a problem that’s going to go away anytime soon. Plus, anything that can help keep Simon Cowell's rubbish as far away from the Christmas No.1 spot as possible, is certainly a cause worth getting behind.
To Eagles of Death Metal we say: Fly higher than ever before.
