The Hudson Taylor brothers, Alfie and Harry, are one Dublin duo that are on the rise with their stunning folk-style guitar playing and perfect nasal-tone vocals. Since forming in 2011, the Hudson Taylor is one band which has climbed to great musical heights, reaching number 14 on the iTunes UK charts with their EP Battles.
Even though they have been repeatedly compared to Mumford & Sons in their style and structure, Hudson Taylor actually possess a unique style. ‘Won’t Back Down’ demonstrates just how versatile and different they are, completely dropping the guitar for the piano to to take it's place, giving the genre of folk a new twist.
In terms of covers, this band knows how to turn a song on it's head, for example the song ‘Walking on the Flume’ which demonstrates this perfectly. The song consists of sections from ‘Flume’ (Bon Iver), ‘Walking on the Moon’ by Police and Eminem's ‘Lose Yourself’, Hudson Taylor perfectly combines these tracks to form absolute perfection.
They are racking up the views on YouTube, with almost 500,000 views for both of their two biggest singles of ‘Chasing Rubies’ and ‘Battles’ collectively. They mean business and it only seems to be a matter of time before they reach the big time, with their own live show coming up in Dingwalls, London. Tickets have been set at a reasonable price (10 quid), so get them soon - before they all sell out!
