Flako's extremely popular Mesektet Extnd is being re-released this summer.
London based Flako’s Mesektet Extnd was one of the most popular releases of 2011 which will be re-released this summer, featuring a number of new tracks.
Apparently the Mesektet in ancient Egyptian mythology, was one of the two solar boats used by the sun god, Ra, to travel the cycle of night and day, and carry the moon across the sky. Supposedly he died every dusk, had to fight the dark forces of the underworld, and, while passing through, he would bring light to the dead souls — only to be reborn the next morning. Just like the sun god, producer Flako uses the Mesektet to end the cycle of darkness and prepare for his own rebirth: ending one style of music production to move forward into another. The lead single 'Moonchild', like many of the album's tracks, has a strong jazz sound combined with the style of dub music, which adds an element of warm bass underneath broken drum beats.
If you are into drum, jazz, and/or bass, or if you are a fan of Burial or Flying Lotus, then this is a must-have album for you! It is already looking like that this re-release will be even more popular than back in 2011.
This album features a few chilled tracks that are perfect to end a big night, however, the album is more about upbeat tracks that are reminiscent of an L.A.-beat scene.
