New Rock Release: 'We Are'

Indie | Tuesday 18th June 2013 | Abby

A new edgy addition has been made to the world’s rock music industry, exhibiting a dark, detailed and melodic sound. This newly released single by Karnivool is definitely going to impress the rock music industry.

Karnivool is the progressive rock band from Perth, Western Australia, who has just provided the world their first official single from their new album, Asymmetry. This quintet rock band has been producing an interestingly dark and austere atmospheric style of rock music which is softened by the beautifully melodic vocals of the band’s front man Ian Kenney, since 1997. Progressive rock has evolved since the 90s and as has the band, however, they still remain true to themselves as a band, not veering too far from their exclusive sound nor turning away from the main themes that have occupied their music in the past.

‘We Are’ is the title of this new track which fulfils a six minute cut with the distorted plucking and rough strumming of the electric guitar, while the drum is struck at an exhilarating pace, demanding your feet to tap and move to the track’s strong instrumentals. Displaying a strong technicality and wonderful melody balances this dark track, preventing it from becoming too uninviting for those who are not major rock enthusiast.

Ian Kenny remarked that ‘We Are’ is relatively reflective of the rest of the album:

"Asymmetry really harks to what we try to do musically as a band. Light and dark. Exploration. Sometimes we go too far and we get lost, so we backtrack a bit and find exactly what we're looking for."

So if you like this track, expect to be impressed with the new album Asymmetry, set to be released 19th July.

Check out ‘We Are’ right here!
