I’ve Been Gone For Too Long; Think Is Time I Bring It Back. - Ciara Concert Review

Monday 17th June 2013 | Noelle

When Ciara said “I been gone for too long; think it’s time I bring it back” she wasn’t lying. Yesterday (Friday 14th June 2013) Ciara Princess Harris also known as ‘The Princess of Crunk & B’ shut it down in (UK) London at the Indigo O2; when she graced the stage at the Musicalize UK concert.

The Grammy-Award winning Star did an hour long set which consisted of 14 songs both old school and new school from all of her albums; Goodies, The Evolution, Fantasy Ride, Basic Instinct and her yet to be released self titled album Ciara (Out 8th July).

Even before the concert started; hundreds of fans and members of #CsquadUK took over twitter as they expressed their excitement and love for the platinum selling and Grammy Award Winning Artist. Many took pictures as they waited outside the venue for doors to be open, as others posted pictures of their tickets on Instagram.

Once the show started, after waiting for about 2 hours and a half; the headliner, the one and only Ciara took over the stage and did what she does best. The crowd seemed amazed by her incredible performance in numerous ways and for several reasons.

As the lights dimmed on stage; the crowd anxiously waited for ‘The Princess of Crunk & B’ to make her entrance; eyes began to wonder around the venue when they heard Ciara talking but couldn’t see her.

The band began to play Thriller and then BOOM, Ciara entered the stage wearing all red and did a tribute to one of her inspirations, one of the greatest dancers of all time and the late ‘King Of Pop’ Michael Jackson. After that she went straight into her song ‘Got me Good’ the crowd rapidly became fuelled with adrenaline, as Ciara displayed her versatility in dance using different styles of dance such as tutting, grooves, break dancing, street, contemporary and many more.

Ciara stated “You guys make me feel like I’m at home, so can I take you guys to my home town?” Then she took it old school when she performed ‘Lose Control’, ‘Promise’, ‘Taking Back My Love’, ‘Goodies’, ‘1,2,Step’, ‘Love, Sex, Magic’, ‘Ride’. She also performed her hit ‘Like a Boy’ which sold 500,000 records in America alone; and of course she did her legendary ‘Matrix’ move. When performing ‘Oh’; which was in the top three on the billboard 100, the singer also did her booty bounce; which she is also known for.

She engaged with the audience tremendously well; maintained eye contact, winked at them and even made her fans work by calling some of them to come on stage to show off their moves; following that she then danced with her fans on stage and praised them. No doubt Ciara has the best fans.

Ciara slowed it down when she performed her single ‘Sorry’ and ‘Body Party’ when she showed that yes indeed her hips don’t lie, she showed that she can work it. And guess what once again the crowd went wild, people fainted.

Half way through her ‘Body Party’ performance she declared her love for her fans when she sang her heart out saying: “Oh, I love you, I need you, I need you, each and every one of you, without you I’m nothing, believe me, I love you, I love you, I love you. I got the best fans in the world” then she said “You guys are truly the reason why I get excited to do this, if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be nothing, the only faces that give me the strength and courage even in the times when I feel like urghh.. I’m not too sure, tryna get it right you guys keep me going. You guys help me find my strength”. Then she sang again “So I love you, I love you, I need you, I need you, without you I’m nothing; you mean everything to me, you mean everything to me, I love you guys.. I love all this love you give me, I love it, I got the best fans in the world, every boy and girl, you are the best, you are the best, you are the best”.

It’s wonderful that Ciara chose to declare her love for her fans when performing body party; because this is the same song she wrote with her boyfriend Future and this is a special song between them and now she shares it with her fans. So it’s not only a personal song for her and Future but for her and her fans too.

To close the show she performed her song ‘I’m out’ featuring Nicki Minaj, Ciara said “Tomorrow you gon' hear about this (Ooh yay-yay-yay)” well she wasn’t lying; I am still hearing about the concert and how live it was and how people enjoyed themselves.

I must say that the Ciara has lovely stage presences, she used the stage very well, used different levels in her dancing, different styles, had great connect with the audience not only those at the front but those at the top. She showed her appreciation and engaged well with her fans; no wonder she is a great performer.

Overall, the show was a bang; Ciara painted the town red with her amazing set which consisted of 14 songs. She entered like Michael Jackson, danced like Janet Jackson, showed how bootylicious & sexy she is, and rocked the stage like James Brown. What an amazing performer. She painted the O2 RED!
