Kidnap Kid drops his FFRR debut

House | Tuesday 2nd June 2015 | Christina

After several acclaimed releases on Black Butter, 24-year-old DJ/producer Kidnap Kid drops his FFRR debut, the double A-side single ‘Fall/Freedom’, on June 8th.

Both tracks are a bold new style of production from Kidnap Kid, representing an evolution from his early work like ‘Vehl’ and ‘So Close’. Here he’s exploring a deeper, more progressive style of house, shot through with darker techno elements.

The atmospheric, moody ‘Fall’ builds in intensity as Kidnap Kid layers up the production, perfect for smaller, darker underground rooms. ‘Freedom’ is more expansive – set around a simple, stripped back hook, the chime-imbued breakdown lifts the track, giving it a euphoric quality.

The Sheffield man is having quite a year so far – he’s got Radio One play courtesy of Pete Tong as part of his Future Stars of 2015 profile, and Tong also featured him on his March Miami 2015 mix. He’s already played at BPM, SXSW, Miami WMC and Coachella, and he’s got slots at Wildlife, EDC Vegas, Glastonbury, Ibiza Rocks, Kendal Calling, Standon Calling, SW4 and Bestival to come. Watch out, Kidnap Kid is coming for you.
