Felipe Salmón and Rafael Perreira, AKA Dengue Dengue Dengue, are currently one of the leading names in Peruvian electronic music and have been working their way into the international scene for the past five years. Their heady mix of trapstep and the South American beat cumbia has become representative of the cutting edge of South American electronica.
Hailing from Lima, the always-masked duo peddle a tropical bass sound which is as infectious as it is original. They’ve become renowned in Peru and beyond for their immaculately programmed live shows, involving intense audiovisuals by Vj Sixta and the mash up of vintage cumbia samples with the playful, heavy groove of their streetwise beats.
Berlin’s Chusma Records re-released their debut album in 2013, originally released in 2012, which led to a two month European tour that year. DDD are currently on a Latin American tour, which one can only hope will be followed by a trip back across the Atlantic to our somewhat less tropical climes. Hit up their Soundcloud and Facebook.
