A Summer Delight: Bella Ruse

Indie | Tuesday 11th June 2013 | Abby

Searching for some great summer tunes? Look no further, the music you have been looking for is here.

Bella Ruse is the duo which constantly produces entertaining airy folk-pop tracks which are fun and cheerful! With influences such as Sufjan Stevens, Pomplamoose, and Feist, the band aspires to create what they call ‘quirk pop’. Bella Ruse’s ‘quirk pop’ is wonderful music which involves a vast range of instruments that have an ever-lasting effect on listeners, and yes, they do incorporate the glockenspiel!

This duo was only formed in 2009, hailing from Columbus, Ohio, and they have been travelling throughout the US in their vegetable oil-run van for two years, creating music and touring their home country. Kay Gillette presents her gorgeously distinct voice to the band, while Joseph Barker contributes the splendour of the acoustic guitar. Together, with the variety of instruments they use, Bella Ruse offers the indie music industry uniquely wonderful acoustics and tracks which, although they seem effortless, are full of descriptive and beguiling ballads.

Check out Bella Ruse’s latest dazzling track ‘Those Were The Good Days, Weren’t They?’ an awesome tune with the playfulness of the xylophone! This and Bella Ruse’s other tracks will definitely keep your iPod happy this summer!
