Indie BNO! The Smashing Pumpkins @ Wembley

Someone once told me ‘The Smashing Pumpkins’ were an alt-rock group, I gawped – it’s all Chilean Boogie revival now, isn’t it? Is anything that tame nowadays?
Turns out they’re not – they’re a guitar-heavy, psychedelic shoegaze band, and they’re wicked live. Expect astonishing visuals – they’ve always got nauseatingly vivid, impressively relevant screens and things, and this time around they’re showing off some video mapping completely unseen beforehand.
2012’s ‘Oceania’ was a grungy gutter-epic peppered with romantic pop (someone says “You could even say it was smashing!” – shut up) but if that’s not your thing (and I don’t know why it wouldn’t be) the Pumpkins will be playing their classic stuff later in the night.
Not to kill the vibe - under 15s must be accompanied by an adult.
Since 1991’s Gish they’ve sold 30 million records. Get to Wembley July 22.
Watch them live –
