Not many up and coming artists get the chance to make a duet with Nas. So Arlissa must be doing something special. She helped us to ring in 2013 on Top of the Pops and it looks like she’s well on her way to being the next big indie female artist this year.
The vocalist, who started writing music while still studying for her A levels, has an infectiously versatile pair of lungs on her. Arlissa's voice even dares to rival the likes of Florence Welch.
The singer/songwriter sets the bar high with her band creating an atmospheric jungle feel, from drum beats reminiscent of tribal music. The sound is perfectly danceable and her vocals take her through a range of styles from baroque pop to indie.
Arlissa isn’t headlining her own gigs right now, but it’s only a matter of time before she starts. Here’s where you can catch her live this year:
