Quin sisters come back with their new work ready to be played in the dance floors.
After 13 years in the music scene, Tegan and Sara are changing their direction. Most known for their guitar chords and deep lyrics, the duo come back again with a new album which involves loads of new beats. Maybe this change has to do with the success they got after being picked up by the mainstream DJ’s like David Guetta, DJ Tiesto (‘Feeling in my Bones’) or Morgan Page (‘Bodywork’) to put their matching voices to their tracks. The thing is that the first single of the album, ‘Closer’, sounds closer to this last track than to their most known songs such as ‘So Jealous’ or ‘Where Does the Good Go’. I have to say that I really like the song, it makes you think and at the same time it makes you go wild, -maybe a dangerous combination if you’re drunk.
Tegan and Sara are now positioned for the release of their 7th studio album, Heartthrob , which is driving them from the indie-rock to a synthpop direction. The album is getting really good reviews from the media such as Time Entertainment, who says: “Heartthrob counterbalances juvenility with an aged technique. Immaculate harmonies, taut call-and-responses, and major-key tenderness round out the album”. The album is wrapped up perfectly and every song has it inner value, especially on the lyrics and the synth engaging and at the same time, tender melodies. The duo had been able to reinvent themselves without losing their essence, not many artists can say that. Thumbs up for the Quin sisters!
