PIX – Covent Garden
I happened to meet the owner of PIX briefly one Friday night in Brixton and found myself a couple of weeks later hungry and in Convent Garden so thought I would check his place out. And who ever said nothing good can come out of talking to strangers! PIX is a Tapas bar inspired by the Pintxos bars of Barcelona and sunny San Sebastian. As I stepped inside, I immediately stepped out of the dreary bustle of the London commute and was happily infected by the relaxed Spanish feel PIX captures so well. The bar is covered with an array of miniature Tapas dishes and as we enjoyed several glasses of the fine Spanish wine (Acantus Sauvignon Blanc was our choice if you’re interested!) we could help ourselves to which ever of these mouthwatering miniatures took our fancy. I loved the informality and trusting nature of PIX, it works by customers helping themselves to the very reasonably priced Tapas and collecting your skewers in your own jar to keep a track of your bill. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made sure our glasses were kept full without being intrusive. I would highly recommend PIX to anyone who wants high quality food and to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a Spanish bar while they eat it. The patas bravas would be enough to lure me back but I will certainly be returning soon to sample more of their Tapas treats and perhaps a Caipirinha or three!
PIX have two bars, 63 Neal Street, Convent Garden WC2H 9PJ and 16 Baterman Street, Soho, W1D 3AH. Go to www.pix-bar.com for more information and prices.
