The first band has reached 1 billion views on YouTube today joining the likes of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Rihanna.
And who might this band be? The Beatles? The Rolling Stones? Another classic band from the past? Or perhaps more modern worldwide acts such as Foo Fighters, Coldplay or Red Hot Chili Peppers? The most viewed band on YouTube is in fact none other than American nu metallers Linkin Park.
Formed back in 1996 the band have sold more than 50 million albums worldwide claiming two Grammy’s so far in their 16 year lifetime. They have been more than prolific in this period releasing five studio albums, the most recent Living Things in June this year, as well as famously collaborating with Jay-Z on the mash up album Collision Course released way back in 2004 which alone sold 5 million units worldwide.
The band remains a considerable distance ahead of their nearest rivals Red Hot Chili Peppers on 327 million views and Green Day on 245 million views. Whilst been grouped with the likes of Bieber and Rihanna might not appeal to the metallers, reaching the one billion club might mean they’re finally not tired of being everything that you want them to be.
