Ricky Gervais is Just Sayin'

Other | Friday 21st September 2012 | Osh

Yesterday saw the launch of Ricky Gervais and Cloudtalk’s new IPhone app ‘Just Sayin.’ The free app is meant to be an innovative take on the social networking world, radio’s own version of Twitter. Gervais believes that Twitter has “too many idiots” accessing the social network world.

With his new app you record your thoughts and opinions and your followers can listen. The app also allows for conversations between friends. It seems to me that Gervais has just developed a far more complicated way of calling your mate for a chat and a moan.

Gervais commented on his phenomenon: "Making the human voice a natural part of any social web experience is the next big thing. Voice as a monologue is narcissistic, voice as a dialogue is social; social media is a place where people desire to be both."

The man has a fair point and on paper what an excellent idea, but perhaps it’s just me who doesn’t find these self-indulged cathartics appealing. Then again I am a writer, clearly I love the look of my own voice.

However the app has received mixed reviews with some customers finding it doesn’t work properly-  Gervais has said these problems will be looked into.

The best things in life are free , however something tells me users will be paying in earache.
