A decade on from the release of his debut self-titled EP, Patrick Wolf is to release an acoustic album of some of his previous work.
The album, called Sundark and Riverlight, will be a change from his normal blend of electronica and classical instruments, instead stripping back the usual melodic chaos to focus on vocals and subtle instruments.
Premiered by the Guardian, a video of Wolf’s calming performance of ‘Teignmouth’, originally featured on his second album Wind in the Wires, sees Patrick replace the synth tones and backing vocals with a harp, piano, and other stringed instruments to produce a soothing contrast to the original.
Fans have been waiting for a pure showcase of Patrick’s vocal ability away from the distractions of his (sometimes) distorted synth music, and come 15th October when the new acoustic album will be released, they will no doubt be pleased.
