Matt Helders’ mum has revealed the Sheffield quartet is indeed in the desert recording their fifth album.
The twittersphere exploded earlier this week when an unofficial source (ArcticMonkeysUS) tweeted stating that the band had begun the recording progress in the famous Joshua Tree in the desert in California.
Responding to the unprecedented level of interest Jill Helders, took to Twitter stating: “I don't know if it helps to clear things up but lads are in the desert!". The ‘lads’ have been in the desert before way back in 2009, when they recorded their third album co-produced by the legendary Queens of the Stone Age vocalist, Josh Homme.
The Arctic’s have come a long way since they skyrocketed to the status of Kings of the Indie World back in 2006 and have gone on to establish themselves as the band of a generation. All four of the bands albums have reached number 1 in the UK album charts and this trend undoubtedly looks set to continue following the success of the release of ‘R U Mine’ and the bands' Olympic Opening Ceremony Beatles cover reaching the top 20.
If anything can be learnt from this whole Twitter saga, it’s that maybe it really is time to believe the hype.
