The Academy of the Science of Acting and Directing

The ASAD is one of the world’s leading drama establishments that train you in acting and directing for theatre, film, television and radio. Students travel to London from all over the world to be part of the Academy’s vision. The concept “knowledge is freedom” fuels the belief that to be able to act and direct well, you must first have the knowledge of how to do it. The ASAD will provide you with this knowledge so that you’ll be able to develop the skills needed from you as an actor or director, then you’ll be able to adapt and mould yourself into any situation. That is the real challenge separating good actors and directors from the great ones.
The Academy offers a range of acting and directing courses. They try to accommodate different circumstances by offering one to three year courses, day or evening courses and even some intensive courses spanning over one or two weeks as well as private tuitions. They also have some great events throughout the year including the Moscow Podium Festival, where the academy takes a production to Moscow’s biennal International Student Theatre Festival. There is also a performance organised entirely by the students at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and plays put at the actual academy.
