Intel drives a new coke machine which doesn’t accept money, both coins and notes, but has built-in QR code reader as well as NFC.
You must be wondering what is so special about a Coke vending machine but it actually has really interesting stuff. Intel has made it more powerful than the majority of dedicated computers these days.
You can purchase your favourite drink by using your debit/credit card, NFC enabled credit card and even your phone- assuming that you have the right app loaded.
This machine has a massive 46in multi-touch screen, on which you can view what’s available and swipe around to the type of Coke you like. This big screen is not just to show up the giant pictures of Coke bottles, it will also display the image from the machine’s built-in 1080p camera. This allows you to take a photo of yourself with a bottle of Coke in your hand. This machine has integrated Wi-Fi which allows you to email it to anyone anywhere.
The pictures clicked will not be a fun deal for customers but will enable Coca-Cola to keep a record of its customer, their age, sex and the type of drink they prefer, without any extra effort.
These machines are already out in the streets of South America. It might reach your city soon. So, don’t be surprised if you see one.
