Caged Animals: This Summer

Caged Animals, the indie /synth-pop band from Brooklyn, featuring the vocals of Vincent Cacchione, the front man of Soft Black, are back! Their new 5 track EP was released on June 12th and is coincidentally called “This Summer”.
The leading track “This Summer I’ll Make It Up To You” features a romanticised vision of summer and starts off with a sense of hope. The song is about having fun in a place where “the sun is always shining”. Vincent Cacchione sings of taking his lover to the idyllic west coast but towards the end of song, realises this is not possible and so says he will take her “to the Jersey shore, if nothing better works out.” The song juxtaposes the upbeat synth melodies with an undertone of disappointment. ” The video features the band swimming in the ocean and jet skiing but the black and white tint reflects the mood. The combination of downbeat lyrics and upbeat infectious music makes it perfect for a summer soundtrack.
Another must listen track on the EP is “I Will Take My Own Hand”, an easy listening track that you will not be able to get out of your head!
