Blur to Headline Olympic Closing Concert. Friday 15th June 2012 | Osh The Very Best of Britain - Blur to Headline Closing Ceremony Concert. In a patriotic attempt to showcase the very best our little island has to offer in terms of talent and success, the organisers of the 2012 Olympic games have booked the one and only Blur to close the games on the 12th August. The closing ceremony, which kicks off in London on the 12th August will coincide with a ticketed concert being held in Hyde Park, the concert will see the likes of Blur and The Specials take to the stage. It goes without saying that Blur are incredibly honoured to be asked to perform at the closing ceremony of the Olympic games and earlier this year the group were awarded a Brit Award for their outstanding contribution to music. Its a huge year for the country and the guys are said to be extremely honoured to be a part of it. Regardless of the occasion Blur are no strangers to sell out concerts in Hyde Park, they performed two in 2009. Due to complaints by Hyde Parks numerous residents, the music concerts held in Hyde Park next year will be cut from 13 to 9. How Boring. We wish Blur the very best of luck with their huge up and coming summer, i for one can’t think of a band more fitting to showcase our countries talents and give the rest of the world a slice of what we’re all about.
