Lauryn Served with £1m Tax Charge

RnB/Hip Hop | Monday 11th June 2012 | Osh

Diamond in the dirt Lauryn Hill has been getting some unwanted attention recently. The ‘Killing Me Softly’ singer is currently being charged for allegedly evading tax payments between 2005 and 2007. Even though the songstress hasn’t really recorded any new material since her classic The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill album, it is alleged that she owes over £1m. It’s claimed the soulful singer has been racking in a large amount of dollars through royalties from her old music and films, alongside that also, are her four companies; LH Productions 2001, Boogie Tours, Studio 22 and Creations Music.

Fellow band mate and close friend Wyclef Jean, has suggested that a reason for Lauryn failing to file tax returns, could be a result of the singers battle with health concerns. The world misses Lauryn Hill. It’s a shame, when things were finally starting to look good for singer, who is planning a return with a  second album, something from her past comes back to haunt her.

She’s due to appear in front of a federal magistrate in Newark, New Jersey, on June 29 of this year.

Check out the footage below of the Lauryn we all grew to love. Performing the hit single ‘I Get Out’ live.

Maybe it’s because she spoke out against the system, they are now on her case!
