Emeli Sande, UK R&B and soul singer, thinks that auditioning for reality singing competitions, like The X Factor, is not the best way of music exposure.
Also known as Simon Cowell’s ‘favourite song writer at the minute’, Sande regarded Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell and Lauryn Hill as her music influence. The lyric in her songs carries out important messages about her passion and desire for music. She also revealed that it would be untruthful for her to sing songs not written by herself week by week in The X Factor.
‘What I want is for my music to be remembered’, she claimed. Although it is great to be noticed and get exposure, Sande is not up for chasing transient success in such a commercial way. She is dedicated to being true to herself and her music.
