Introducing Brighton Boy, Gross Magic

Indie | Wednesday 31st August 2011 | Osh

“The grunge riffs of early Nirvana, the carefree adolescence of Loser-era Beck and the lo-fi production of Ariel Pink"

Gross Magic , is the 90’s influenced sludge pop sounds of Sam Mcgarrigle. A very hairy Brighton Boy, making a big impact on the indie scene. He started experimenting with music back in primary school which can’t have been too long ago for him yet his tunes seem to have a heavy influence from the likes of older bands, Nirvana and Ariel Pink. Since leaving his old band ‘Hocus Tocus’ he has released The Teen Jamz EP by the Sounds of Sweet Nothing back in August, sold out the Lexington, been hyped about on numerous music blogs and we will definitely be seeing more of this floppy haired boy. His best known song ‘Sweetest Touch’ is a bittersweet mix of grunge with a highly addictive riff and contrasting soft vocals of Sam, who romantically sings ‘I can’t believe she knows my name’.
