We know you guys love to party, and this means so propably have experienced the horrible struggle that are night buses. How many times were we envious of New York and Berlin with comfortable trains running 24 hours on weekends? Countless. The use of night buses has increased 270% over last 14 years and more and more people used the tube after 10pm, so that the mayor of London finally pledged that a 24-hour tube service would be coming to London.
And we were left with one longing question resounding in our heads: but when?
Today it was finally announced that the "Night Tube" service will start next year on 12th September 2015! Only a year to go!
Journeys around London at night will then last 20 minutes shorter on average. First it will cover he whole of the Julibee and Victoria lines and most of the Northern, Central and Piccadilly lines, with the Northern having the most frequent service with 8 trains per hour. Mike Brown, managing director of the London Underground, said this "is a historic step in our modernisation of London Underground". Tfl is now looking for a sponsor for the Night Tube. It will support almost 2'000 permanent jobs and of course all of you nightowls.
