10 Controversial Statements Lily Allen Has Made

Lily Allen’s ludicrously titled album Sheezus is out next month and she admitted herself to a fan on Twitter that she’s not much of a fan of her new music. She also said recently that she feels that her comeback has been disappointing because her label won’t play any of her more interesting new material. With social media being so readily available to fans and so instant, it’s easy for artists to spout things they don’t mean or might harm their career. Here are just 10 things Lily Allen has said that have caused quite a stir for better or for worse.
1.“Feminism shouldn’t even be a thing anymore”
She quickly followed this up with “Of course I’m a feminist” days later, clearly regretting her choice of words. It shows just how easily words can be twisted in the press. The comment gained a lot of hate online from people who strongly disagreed.
2.“If Carl Barat [Dirty Pretty Things, ex-Libertines] is being a cunt backstage at a TV program, why shouldn't I say something?”
This was one of the Allen’s defining factors in her early career, swearing and trashing other artists in the same breath and this was one of her finer ones.
3.“[On Kate Moss] She’s a fucking clothes horse. Deal with it!”
The pair have continuously fallen out and made up again but in 2008, Allen wasn’t too happy with the supermodel and made this remark to Marie Clare. Luckily the pair have now patched things up and were recently seen partying together.
4.“Can somebody tell me what Katie Hopkins does except go on telly slagging off girls half her age?”
This one’s pretty astute. Apparently some people in the world agree with the poisonous comments of Hopkins and begrudged Lily for it but most of us are with Allen on this one.
5.“Courtney Love is a paranoid drug addled lunatic”
It seems that this feud however, has not been settled. Courtney Love was apparently upset over Allen reserving some dresses for the NME Awards in 2010 and Allen hit back five times as hard in a long twitter rant about the Hole frontwoman.
6.“Stop tweeting me about slaughtering a pig for charity… Some of these vegans are loonies!”
She really can’t keep anyone happy can she? Allen offered to give bacon from one of her pigs for comic relief if people donated to the cause and was faced with a major backlash for animal cruelty in 2013, insulting vegans in the process.
7.“I know that Osama Bin Laden is dead but if we could all stop for a minute to consider today’s REAL news I’d very much appreciate it”
Allen wasn’t too happy when Bin Laden’s death was getting all the attention over her 26th Birthday celebrations.
8.“Katie Nicholl, I THINK you’re a cunt, leave me out of your shitty column”
There are downfalls to reading a large portion of the press written about you and Allen is a lot vocal than most and got especially angry in 2010 at journalist Katie Nicholl who unfairly suggested that she was planning a wedding with her boyfriend Sam Cooper to lessen the grief of her tragic miscarriage.
9.“[On George Bush] Fuck you, fuck you very, very much”
Lily Allen’s song ‘Fuck You’ was directed at ex-president George Bush and was adored by Brits but understandably didn’t receive such a great reaction from Americans who for some reason liked having Bush as president since he served two terms in the White House.
10.Finally, just calling her album Sheezus is a statement in itself.
Kanye West’s sixth album came out less than a year ago and Lily Allen has already lent from the rapper’s album name. She’s apparently terrified of what he’ll think of it considering the two don’t have the best relationship. She says the album isn’t a homage to Ye but just a comment on where she was at in her life when she was making the album.
