It's called Whaling and it's the newest trend on Vine, the website where users post six-second videos of themselves to a Twitter-like feed. Fortunately, this time there's no sea mammal involved, but just a bunch of people imitating their typical jumps on the water surface.
The movement is becoming so populare that Vine has offered its own definition to guide confused users, reading: “[whaling is] to dive backwards with one’s body in a public or unusual place, like a whale breaching the surface of the ocean.”
