East London’s sense of community is one of the most vibrant and tight knit in the whole city. This is clear from the markets, families, even just walking down the road. Chase & Status’ Will Kennard is aiming to add to this amazing sense of community through the development of his free school, ELAM.
ELAM, an acronym for East London Arts and Music, is now a world class centre for music and digital arts and last month, held an open taster day session for young and aspiring musicians. With the help of Sir Nick Williams, Kennard was able to bring together an amazing roster of tutors for this project and is now working on one of the most exciting philanthropic projects in the country.
After the success of their first taster sessions, held over the October half term, ELAM is now organising another day which is open to young people between the ages of 16-19 to come and see what ELAM can do for them. It’s a scheme that has attracted backing from huge names in the music industry such as Jamal Edwards, Plan B and Mistajam which shows how much esteem this free school is held in.
The school itself will deliver courses in Music Business, Performance and Production. Anyone that has an interest in learning how to further their musical education will be able to find something that will appeal to them and hopefully, there will be some big names to add to the alumni of the excellent project.
You can find out how to enrol for the taster at www.elam.co.uk/taster and also receive regular updates on Twitter at @elam2014or Facebook and YouTube as elam2014.
