No matter if you are a student, junior manager, artist, high school grad or DJ, everyone wants at least once in a lifetime dive into the Caribbean way of life and explore this beautiful piece of land.
Nonetheless, most of us, bury their dreams before even starting to fantasise. Rumour has it traveling to the Caribbean is going to cost a fortune, hotels and resorts add to that bill and after all you start wondering if it´s all worth it. Unfortunately, the tourism industry primarily advertises Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Barbados and Cuba as ´the Caribbean´, which is no kidding, quite a costly adventure. However, there is much more to the Caribbean than most of the travel agencies and online booking websites try to make us believe. Sadly, these misperceptions play their part that prevents especially young people from even starting to plan their heavenly trip to the land of endless sunsets.
Thankfully the Caribbean Coast is way longer than one would think and even better, more favourable than ever. All of Central America´s Caribbean coastline, starting with Panama down south and ending with Mexico up north, provides exactly that, what people expect when daydreaming about Barbados and Jamaica.
Just to inspire the infinite options, grasp this. Panama´s Caribbean islands surrounding Bocas del Toro are in for a real treat: dolphins, deserted islands, crazy night outs and millions of palm trees. Costa Rica´s laid back, gorgeous coastline lining up white, sandy beaches, are mind-blowing, not to mention its exceptionally diverse wildlife. On top of that, just a few hundred kilometres up north, Nicaragua and Honduras vault scuba divers into heaven. Caye Caulker in Belize perfects the magnificence of this Caribbean paradise. This tiny island, only a stone´s throw away from Belize City, constitutes the ultimate Caribbean experience. Astonishingly surprising though, this is all possible with a budget of less than $50 a day. Who would have guessed?
So what is so special about it? Belize it or not, Caye Caulker just right off Belize´s coast holds all amenities the other Caribbean shores present in one place. Beautiful, white beaches, palm trees, sweet, colourful houses, reggae vibes, amazingly helpful locals, lobster for $15, sailing trips, rum punch, snorkelling in the second biggest barrier reef, diving with sharks and yes it gets even better swimming with manatees.
Bottom line is a trip to the beautiful Caribbean Coast is affordable for every one, even on a shoestring. That’s exactly why everyone should start dreaming about a trip to one of the most captivating places on earth, pack a bag and take off.
