Mick Jagger Catches Festival Fever Other | Thursday 22nd August 2013 | Christina Mick Jagger To Host His Own Festival Looks like playing at Glastonbury this year wasn't enough for lead singer of The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger. He wants to create his very own festival! The festival is set to take place in 2014 in sunny Brazil. There's talk that it could possibly be a replacement for the existing festival Rock in Rio which takes place in September. A source revealed "Mick has put some feelers out in Brazil to put on a big show. The plans are ambitious but if he pulls it off it will be huge. The whole vibe of the event is very much 'flower power' and the same hippy values that Glastonbury prides itself on. The publicity drive will begin in the next six months or so but there's no doubt there will be big names on the bill." So basically a Glastonbury in the sun then? But it's not just Mick that's jumped on the festival bandwagon. Back in 2012, fellow Glastonbury headliners Mumford & Sons began hosting a set of events called Gentlemen of the Road which saw a set of stopovers in small towns and cities across the world. Continuing the shows in the future, they plan to expand the lineups and tweak the current format to make it even more of a success. Jagger understands the pressures of performing at festivals. He stated 'Festivals are great to be at but not always the easiest to play. You’ve got to really work at that bit, but I think it’s going to be a lot fun. We’re really looking forward to it and I’m thinking about the set list for that day and how we’re going to deal with it.' Apparently Jagger has already been busy researching looking at videos of Glastonbury's past headliners to try help him create that all important lineup. Christina Hirst
