Art of Dark's 2nd Birthday
In the deep, dark night, on the 6th July 2013, it went off in Oval Space East London town. Vibes were pulsating from the sunny afternoon to sunset, beats carrying ravers through to the early morning. Tania Vulcano, Ibiza Circo loco’s infamous DJ, queen of DC10, addictive beats got crowds ranging and shuffling on the dancefloor. The set created mayhem on the floor; the crowd left on constant edge, teased with unsuspected drops. Seductive, repetitive mixes melted the crowd like butter. Jack & I had the crowd in his hand as he went into his last mix, beats bouncing off each other AOD had successfully created a deep vibe in the Oval space.
AOD certainly had the party going. Seeing the integration of the people on the floor just made the night that much more immense. Knowing everyone had come here just to feel the music. When noticing that be the commonality of a crowd of people with all different backgrounds, heritage, lifestyles bond over the yearning to just chill out and become the music. The bonding in turn created hope, knowing there were and are others in the world not letting their careers and worries define who they are and take over their lives. Raves like AOD show the battle of the alleged brainwashing in our society in such a new fresh light; brainwashing of beats and letting go compared to the everyday business and isolation we see in the news, streets and workplaces.
The ability to find a place where you can be yourself and be with your own thoughts in this ever changing world is extremely important. At a place like AOD or finding the place you find comfort and can meet people which engage all the questions you have in your head can be vital to finding happiness. Deep house, particularly at AOD, created such a chilled ambience, that going back to work on Monday morning doesn’t have to be such a pressure nor does the general going out scene, when you find that place you can make life worth living. It's so key to your development and own happiness. It is key to find this in the crowds you meet and the general feeling of inclusion to make going out actually fun and not adding to the pressure of work knowing you have to work twice as hard to keep up a social life.
AOD had set themselves up for great expectations after the the 1st birthday at pleasure gardens, and they succeeded. AOD, started off as an intimate, secret set in 2012, but it really doesn’t look like its going to stay secret for long, with low slung basses and the deep enchanting remixes AOD are drawing in a massive party. Test it out for yourself, could it be where you find your chilled buzz, making life that more brighter and the world that bit bigger.
