Spotlight: South London Ordnance

Wednesday 31st July 2013 | Beth

Producing gloomy original house tracks and remixes of a similar nature, South London Ordnance is creating a unique sound of his own that’s near impossible to ignore.

Joining the UK’s current league of enigmatic producers, S.L.O usually asks for his real name not to appear in print, with questions about musical past and extra-curricular activities also rarely answered.

After delivering his first full EP in September last year via Dutch tastemaker, Audio Culture, S.L.O is now working with Scuba’s Hotflush and has recently created his own label, Aery Metals. With support from the likes of Jamie XX, Benji B, Mary Ann Hobbes, Mosca, Claude Vonstroke, Richie Hawtin and more, S.L.O is fast becoming a household name in forward-thinking bass music.

The latest release from South London Ordnance consists of an unexpected remix. Indie’s popular Swim Deep’s ‘King City’ wouldn’t be the first choice to spring to mind, but S.L.O’s innovative style transforms the track into ghostly vocals with a strong house backbone.
