Ralph Lawson revives Back to Basics’ Classics in a new album.
Kicking off next week the 20/20 Vision boss revisits his past, bringing tracks from the legendary Back To Basics club to a new vinyl series and album. A series of four limited-edition vinyls will be dropped before the whole piece, Back To Basics - Rare Classics lands in April. Old dancefloor fire from Cajmere, Mood II Swing & Neal Howard make the list, compiled by Lawson over two years.
Leeds based Back To Basics was a clubbing institution back in its heyday, bringing over Daft Punk, Danny Tenaglia and Derrick Carter in the early days of their careers for mad parties that made it into the history books. The club may have closed it’s door, but it’s legacy lives on. On the collection Lawson said: “The series focuses on highly collectable classic records from the club’s long history that paints a true picture of the music played on the dancefloor.”
There is simply no one better to sort this tracklist, Ralph Lawson has been part of the bricks and mortar of Back To Basics since day one. He played the very first record at the club, was the musical director for some time and has helped the club win 5 awards including Best Club. Although Lawson is very much a forward-thinking man, this time he's taking it back.
Back To Basics - Rare Classics is released fully in April, and the vinyl series kicks off on 29th January with Basic Vision 001.
