The Killers - T In The Park

Sunday 14th July 2013 | Meganne

The Killers brought the curtain down on this year’s T In The Park festival and a crowd of around 85,000 were there to watch them headline the festival’s 20th birthday.

After the Stereophonics finished their set with Dakota, The Killers opened with crowd favourite ‘Somebody told me’ and the energy was there beginning to end. Although only watching on TV, the atmosphere amongst the crowd was clearly electric.

As the crowd chanted for their favourite tracks, a piano-accompanied introduction to Human was heard and the voices of 85,000 people singing along completed the acoustic snippet of the popular song, a full version was later performed.

Spaceman followed Somebody told me and The way it was, For reasons unknown and Smile like you mean it were also played. Miss atomic bomb began as the sun set and darkness grew over the festival and the well-known song I think we’re alone now by Tiffany was then covered. Another cover followed this; a section of Side by Travis was performed as though it was a song of their own.

All these things I’ve done was a huge song on their set and to conclude, When you were young and the classic Mr Brightside were performed. As the opening chords to Mr Brightside were played the crowd were on a high and came close to out singing Brandon.

All in all their performance was amazing as always and the perfect way to close Scotland’s biggest festival.
