Scientists prove fatty foods are good for you

Other | Friday 15th September 2017 | Claudia

A new study has shown that consuming a moderate amount of fat can reduce the risk of premature death. 135,000 people were involved in this research from across the globe.

This research showed that about 35 percent percent of daily calorie intake was linked to a decrease in early risk of death, than that of a lower fat consumer.

Dietary fats such as saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats were not linked to cardiovascular diseases or heart attacks. But diets high in carbohydrates were associated with higher mortality rates.

The study overall proved that avoiding high-carb diets and eating a balanced amount of fat, fruits, and veg could lower the risk of early death.

The Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) study was led by researchers at the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) at McMaster University and Hamilton Health.

This research took seven and half years and followed 135,000 people from different minorities and backgrounds, collected from 18 different countries.
