Hip-Hop Activism: Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) Force-Fed!

With a catalogue of criticisms against the American government and continuous human rights campaigning, Yasiin Bey has never been one to shy away from political activism. Today a 4 minute clip with Bey outlining the force-feeding procedure of Guantanamo bay prisoners was released. With the Islamic holiday Ramadan beginning this week, the clip was released in protest of the inhumane methods of force-feeding. In the short film, Yasiin Bey is seen emotional and in pain vividly describing the ‘burning’ sensation of the procedure. Directed by Bafta award-winning filmmaker Asif Kapadia,the chilling clip certainly establishes the brutality of force feeding amongst its viewers.With the Clip going viral Bey proves that Hip-Hop activism works.
