Edward Enninful becomes Vogue's First Black Male Editor

Other | Tuesday 11th April 2017 | Laura

We can all the remember the moment Barack Obama was elected as the first African-American president of the United States. That hope for change and equality is till floating in the air as Ghanaian-born fashion stylist, Edward Enninful, becomes the first black male editor of Vogue UK.

The editor won over the fashion bible with his hard work and passion. The 45-year-old, started his career in the fashion industry when he was scouted as a model at the age of 16. Since then he has been the director for i-D Magazine and contributing editor at Italian Vogue, working closely on its black models only edition in 2008.

Enninful was also the former fashion and stylist director at W Magazine and is close friends with Kate Moss and Naomi Campell, who showed her excitement for the editor in a tweet:

His time to shine as the new editor- in-chief will be in August when Alexandra Shulman the current editor-in-chief, steps down from her position, after more than 25-years.

We are all excited to see how things will change, will the magazine feature more black models, and have the first “all black” British issue- or will it stay the same? Only time will tell.
