50 Hits Back, Denies Hitting Ex-Girlfriend

The New York rapper has come out to deny kicking his ex-girlfriend during an argument at her home last month. The rapper’s lawyer said that no warrant had been issued for the rapper despite Los Angeles prosecutor’s office announcing that 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) has been charged with domestic violence and vandalism.
This all stemmed from when police were called to a Daphne Joy’s condominium on 23rd June, with the police arriving after 50 had already left. Joy, said to have previously dated 50 Cent for three years and has a baby for him, accused the rapper of ransacking her apartment, breaking the door to the bedroom where she was hiding and kicking her.
But 50’s lawyer has come out to defend the rapper, stating that his client ‘has not been arrested and there is no outstanding warrant for his arrest’. His lawyer also stated they have been in contact with the LA City Attorney’s Office and they are currently conducting their own investigation.
The rapper apparently is seeing the lighter side of it all, posting pictures on Instagram of himself around his Connecticut mansion on Thursday with tags such “I’m not in jail, I’m by my pool”, “I’m not in jail, I’m by my waterfall”, “I’m not in jail, I’m in my theater”.
If 50 Cent is convicted of the charges, he could face a sentence of up to five years plus $46,000 (£30,500) in fines.
This is not the first time 50 Cent would be facing some baby mama drama. In 2008, his ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins accused him of setting her Long Island home on fire. Although no one was charged in that matter, the police denied the claim of 50 and his people that he had been cleared in the matter.
If this case goes to court it is unclear how it would impact on the release of the rapper’s fifth album, Street King Immortal, which is due to drop later this year and has already suffered multiple delays.
