Fortune Favours the Rave

Other | Wednesday 8th February 2017 | Ben

PLZ Make It Ruins is a North London based outfit of producers Vegyn and ERSATZ and visual artist Greedy Goons who also run the night GÆZ where they present their art alongside self-released PLZ label mates Testset and Ola Pang.

The label has just released four distinctive bangers from artists Vegyn, ERSATZ, Ola Pang and Jethro Cooke, delivering their music to your ears via a fortune cookie – an interesting method to say the least. According to the label, “Each cookie contains a single-use download code and a personalised proverb for the listener’s own rumination.”

Keep your eyes peeled for their cookie jars too, which are currently located in Phonica Records, Sounds of the Universe, Rye Wax, YAM Records and Rough Trade East. Get yours online before they’re gone here. This great idea follows on from ERSATZ releasing his big tracks WARNING! and B.E.G. in the physical form of a USB shaped as an engraved silver bullet.

Who knows what unique ways they’ll release their music next but I for one am looking forward to it. Since the labels formation, the artists have been honing their craft, treating their stripped back, authentic music as a true art form which sadly is all too rare these days.

With plays on 6 Music Recommends, James Blake’s Radio 1 Residency and features on Radar Radio, Rinse FM and NTS amongst others, the group are clearly making waves in the wider underground ‘electronic’ club scene. If you like what you hear then get down to their free London event later this month - it’s sure to be a mad one so don't miss out!
