People Who Aren’t Rich Are Now Called “Low Achievers”
The other day, former Tory minister, Sir Alan Duncan, attempted to defend David Cameron after the Panama Paper scandal. He said, “May I support the Prime Minister in fending off those who are attacking him, particularly in thinking of this place, we risk seeing a House of Commons which is stuffed full of low-achievers who hate enterprise, hate people who look after their own family and know nothing about the outside world.” Now, if that isn’t a good enough reason for the general public to be absolutely disgusted and furious with that statement, then I don’t know what is.
It has caused outrage and people who work sincerely hard day to day have been really disheartened by what the MP had to say. A lot of people took to the internet with comments about what Duncan has said such as “@Jo_Bell: Low achievers? Anyone in poverty who can keep their family alive and well under this government is a high achiever.” and “@CourtneyHickey2: Apparently not being born into wealth makes you a ‘low achiever’. Nice one Sir Alan Duncan”.
If we could send a little message to Sir Alan Duncan personally we would tell him that we’d rather have a House of Commons stuffed FULL to the brim of honest and loyal low achievers than what we currently have.
